What Color Is Your Kitchen?

So, funny story.  Last night Alan and I are at home just cleaning, normal night.  I get a mesage on FB from a friend asking what color our kitchen is (assuming they were buying a wedding present for us).  Well, I didn't see the message right away, so in the meantime Alan got a text from her husband asking the same thing.

Later on FB I finally replied to her and told her red.  I got a message back from her telling me what Alan had told her husband in response to the same question. Alan's response was a picture.  This picture:

Funny how different guys and girls are huh? Lol.  When I told him later that when people ask that question it usually means for decorating purposes, he was like "Oh, I didn't know."  Oh man, I love this man of mine! :)  (but for future reference, maybe you all should just ask me any questions like this! hehe)

Holy Crap!

Yep, that's right. Holy crap!  The wedding day is almost here!  One week from tomorrow we will be saying "I do".  I was going to wait to post anything until after the wedding and honeymoon were over, but I am sitting here with some (rare) free time, so I figured why not?

It's crazy the amount of time and planning that goes in to a wedding.  I've helped with lots of family weddings lately, but when it comes to your own, it's much more stressful.  When you go from helping to plan to being in charge of planning you also go from "I'm a little bit busy and stressed" to "What the hell was I thinking?!" Lol! :) But I do have say, all of the stress and time is SO WORTH IT!  The wedding day isn't even here yet and I already feel like I have the wedding of my dreams. I have some absolutely amazing family members and friends who have listened to me bounce ideas off of them for months now.  I am thrilled with some of the small pieces to our wedding that we've done DIY!  Thanks to my awesome Aunt Marva I have custom flower girl baskets that match our theme and are exactly as I imaged them. (Let's be honest, she basically made these for me. All I did was show her a picture and hand her the glue gun occassionally.) She was also able to get me some plain boxes so I could create the card box I had wanted as well. 

Also super stoked about this custom made piece that fits exactly with our colors and feel of the wedding. In addition to those I have spent HOURS (seriously, far too many to count) making the centerpieces for the wedding. I scaled back a bit on my original design of these due to me just plain being annoyed with them, but they are still just what I had imagined. Another custom item I can't wait for people to see is the sign-in book my incredibly talented brother Zac is almost done making for us.  Side note: Zac probably wishes Pinterest didn't exist so I didn't keep coming up with crazy items for him to draw up and make. :)  But seriously, he is amazing.  He has drawn up, cut out, and finished our initals for people to sign and then we can hang it on our wall afterwards.  Simply amazing he is.  I would show you a picture but for some reason it's not letting me upload it and I am tired of trying. :)  We've also had our cake topper custom made, as well as the flower girl dresses and my bridesmaid dress.  So stoked to share all the pictures after the wedding day!  One week to go!

Welcome to our new blog!  Alan and I are excited to start this together and feel like it will be a good way for us to stay in touch with all of our family who are out of state.  I imagine most posts will be completed by me....but Alan will contribute occasionally as well :) Keep your eyes out for our first real post that will come after we are back from our honeymoon!
