Pregnancy Week 6

Week 6

The nausea has really started to kick up!  Early in the week I felt so horrible between nausea and fighting a head cold and allergies, by the time bed time hit I just laid on the bed and cried.  Alan was super sweet and just held me and rubbed my back until I stopped crying.  Since then he and I have both been researching how to handle morning sickness and I’ve been trying a few things.  Sprite and saltine crackers are my best friend this week.  Those along with peppermint candies and ginger tea seem to be helping enough.  Sometimes it even seems like the peppermint altoids (it’s all they had at the gas station) help even just by smelling them in the tin.  I have to use something constantly though…….Sprite, mints, crackers……..it’s a constant cycle.  I’m also finding I am pretty tired during the day.  I feel like just a 30 minute nap would help a ton, and an hour would be even better. Too bad I can’t have naps at work, right?  Outside of the nausea issues, my back still gets a bit stiff sometimes if I stay in the same position too long, and I haven’t buttoned up my pants the last two days. J  They still fit, I just feel like they push too much on my stomach when they are done up, so I’m not doing it.

I’ve been doing lots of reading online about things we should buy for the baby and things we shouldn’t.  Some of the things are pretty consistent and others are random.  I can’t wait to be able to tell my family, mostly my aunts, so they can help me make sense of it all!  I also went and did my Brazilian wax last night as scheduled.  I found out the hard way that when you are pregnant, that area becomes much more sensitive!  Sensitive and swollen is the name of the game it seems.

Doctor’s appointment is in just less than 2 weeks now and I can hardly wait!  My friend Jessica told me we’ll get to hear the heartbeat! (I told one friend and Alan told one friend the week we found out! We just had to tell someone!)  I assumed we’d do the ultrasound, but I guess I didn’t think about the heartbeat.  With how emotional I am right now I’m sure I will cry getting to experience that. The tears seem to come consistently right now.  But…..just two more weeks until we get to see our little one for the first time! I am so excited!  I hope by then this morning sickness will have calmed down as well. 

Pregnancy Week 5

Week 5

This first week after finding out is a whirlwind! I have to pee, a lot. I mean a lot.  I am so thirsty during the days.  I am drinking at least 80 ounces while I sit at work, and then more at home. I just can’t get enough water!  I have had a few brief moments of nausea, but nothing that hasn’t passed after 30 minutes or so.  I also started to experience some light back pain.  It’s pretty constant.  Getting comfortable on the couch or in bed has been more difficult because it hurts.  We ordered some pregnancy workout DVD’s online over the weekend and I should get them any day now.  I’m hoping this will help w/the pains and also keep me from gaining too much weight   Other than those few things, I still feel just as I did a month ago!  Our first doctor appointment is just 3 weeks away and I can’t wait!

Pregnancy - Week 4 - Just Finding Out

Today I finally got brave enough to take an at-home pregnancy test; Three days after I was “late”.  I waited until Alan had left for work and took the test without him knowing. I didn’t want us both to be disappointed if the test said no, as it had many times before.  I went in to the bathroom and did the test.  Within about 30 seconds I saw the results…..2 lines. 2 lines meant pregnant!!!!!  Wait, I read it correctly, right? 2 lines meant pregnant?? I stared at the test making sure I had read it correctly. I did.  I started to cry the happiest tears of my life.  I then did this happy cry/laugh/disbelief thing for a few minutes.  Then I worried I had misread it again. I pulled the box back out and looked at the instructions in the box again. Yes, 2 lines meant pregnant.  Ok, I read it correctly, I was PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!!  The next 20 minutes I just cried and laughed and couldn’t believe it.  Our months of trying had finally worked!  We were pregnant!  I finally remembered I still had to go to work that day and pulled myself together.  I put the pregnancy test in my sock drawer so I knew Alan wouldn’t see it yet and proceeded to get ready for work.

Once at work I started planning how I could tell Alan.  I looked up hundreds of ideas online.  I figured after work while he was at school I would drive to Babies R Us and get a little onesie that said something about ‘daddy’ and give Alan a present when he got home that night.  Yep, that is what I was going to do.  Until about 11:00 that is.  It was almost lunch time and I could not hold in the excitement any longer!  I decided I would tell him when we went home at lunch time.

Lunch time came and we drove home to eat as normal.  We got home, started making our sandwiches, he was talking about work.  I said I needed to go to the bathroom, but also needed to go upstairs to get my chapstick to take back to work.  I went upstairs while he finished lunches.  I got the pregnancy test from my drawer and tucked it in to my pocket.  I went back down, helped finish the lunches, and he took his over to the couch to sit and eat.  Before he turned on the TV though, I walked over and said “Honey, before we turn the TV on, I think we need to take some time to talk about our budget again and where we have money going.  He said OK and looked at me.  I pulled the pregnancy test out of my pocket and handed it to him as I said “And this is why”.

He took the test, not realizing what it was quite yet.  He looked at it, and kept looking at it.  After about a minute or two his eyes started to fill with tears and he said “No freaking way”.  He then looked up at me, and he cried his own happy tears as he pulled me to an incredible hug.  As we hugged we both cried our own happy tears, party in shock it had finally happened.  We couldn’t believe it, we were finally going to be parents!!!  We pulled apart and talked about some pregnancy things, which I can’t quite remember all of.  I told him my estimated due date, he asked how accurate the at home tests were, and we decided to wait until I was at least 10 weeks to tell anyone.  Easily one of the happiest moments of our lives. 

We Moved!

I'm definitely slacking in keeping up on this blog in a timely manner, but better late than never, right?  We moved!  We've been in our new place for 3 weeks now and just love it.  We didn't have to move far and just went from Pleasant Grove to American Fork.  We were probably 7-8 minutes away from our work before we moved and now we are like 5 :)  It's amazing.

Reason for the move? More room!  While our last place (and first place together) was nice, it just wasn't great.  Very small living room and kitchen, one car garage, horrible hot water heater our landlords wouldn't fix, and generally just small.  The new place we found to rent is 600 sq ft bigger!  It has a 2 car garage (hooray!), still 3 bed 2 1/2 bath, but also has a bonus room upstairs. It's kinda like another family room.  Currently we have our office stuff in this room along with my sewing stuff.  Our hopes are to put a second TV along with recliners up there as well.  The kitchen and living are so much bigger too!!  The living room itself is the same size as our old living room and kitchen combined. It's awesome. We can actually invite people over now and have room for them!  There is also a back porch we can actually use, although it sits empty for now as we have no outdoor furniture or BBQ grill yet :)  Overall, just a bigger, nicer place for us to live.

I've been up to get a few things up on the walls so far, but still have a long way to go in decorating.  I need an unlimited supply of money for this :) I have some cute projects in mind for some of the decorating and hope to be able to do them soon. The good news is we only have like 4 boxes that haven't been unpacked.  We are just lazy and haven't done them yet.  But a little bit at a time, right? Anyway, we are happy to be moved and have more space.  We can't wait to invite friends and family over now for fun game nights, movies, and dinners!

Wedding Pictures!

The wedding pictures have arrived!!  (Ok, they arrived a few weeks ago and I have been lazy in getting them uploaded to the blog)  As soon as we picked them up I made Alan sit at the computer with me so we could look at them.  There were over 200 pictures to look through, and I loved so many of them.  So now, with pictures in hand, I will recap our wedding day :)

So the morning of the wedding we had such a huge help from so many family members.  Most of my family showed up to help pack in the wedding day decorations, set up chairs for the ceremony, and tie sashes on each of those chairs.  We also had a helping hand from some of Alan's family as well.  Alan's sister-in-law Ami came and set up her harp and got some practice in while the ceremony decorations were being set up.  We had a wedding company come in and set up the backdrops as well as put the decorations on the huge columns in the middle of the room (Soooo glad we went this route!). I seriously almost cried when I showed up to the ballroom and saw how beautiful everything was looking (I was banned from helping set up anything, and got yelled at several times when I tried to help do something!) :)  Around 10:00 everything was set up for the ceremony and we hung around for a few minutes before we did a quick rehearsal with everyone who was walking down the aisle.  Here are a few pics from the rehearsal, as well as one that shows the column decor that was set up that morning...

So, we ended our rehearsal and off everyone went to go home, get ready, eat lunch, or in Alan's family's case....go to the park to eat lunch.  I stayed at the library as my hair lady was coming at 11:00 to do my hair.  My most amazing maid-of-honor, CJ, went and got me and her some lunch and then came back to stay with me and get ready with me.  At 11:00 Melissa showed up (hair lady) and got to work on making me beautiful.  Her and I sat there with CJ chatting, eating, and just taking a minute to relax.  In the middle of my hair being done a great friend from high school came to deliver the flowers for us.  I had Clarissa make my bouquet, Alan's bout, corsages and bout's for our parents, CJ and Jon (best man), as well as a corsage for two of my aunts. When she showed up and showed me the flowers, I was just amazed!  I had given her direction, but generally used her suggestions and then let her just do what she does.  The flowers looked so amazing!  I was so happy with how they turned out.  The price was also great for what she did! :)  After she left, Melissa left soon after and it was just me and CJ for a bit.  I finished eating, brushed my teeth, put on my body glitter, lotion, jewelry, etc.  And I'm pretty sure I went to the bathroom like 6 times between 12:30 and 1:30. lol.  Around 1:00 my family started showing back up.  Our photographer Stacie also showed up around this time.  It was time to start getting me in my dress!  I had a corset back on my dress, so it took a good amount of time to get me all laced up in it.  And in case you are wondering, it takes 3 people to get me in to a wedding dress :)  Aunt Marva, Aunt Jenny, and CJ all started helping me get dressed.  The room then started to fill with people as everyone was coming in to get ready.  We had most girls from both my family and Alan's occupying this large room getting dressed, doing hair, doing makeup.  Alan and his brother Jon were getting ready elsewhere, and I am super glad we captured the moment of his mom pinning his bout on him :)  There was quite the mad rush from about 1:30 to 2:00, as the ceremony was supposed to start at 2:00.  And I must admit, I was pretty calm :)  I was prepared for anything, and was actually providing things to others who needed them (lint roller, bandaids, etc).  I was not rushed at all. I felt so prepared, I was just ok.  Well, ok.....I was NERVOUS as hell!  As soon as the room emptied of those people who needed to sit down, I had a mini panic attack :)  Had to take some deep breaths, fan my face, the works :)  CJ had to tell me a few times to take a deep breath. haha!  Before I jump to the ceremony portion, here are some of the pics from getting ready:

 

 


And now we get to the wedding ceremony :)  Everyone is seated in the ballroom, and Ami starts to play the harp.  Our wedding is officially started.  I officially started freaking out. :)  As each of our family members starts their walk down the aisle, I had to keep taking deep breaths.  Alan's parents walked first, followed by my mom and brother Greg.  Then went my Aunt Marva with brother Trevor, Aunt Jenny with brother Zac, and then our best man and maid of honor-Jon and CJ.  They were followed by our cutie flower girls, Alan's nieces Aubrey and Brinlee.  When they made it up front Ami stopped playing the harp for a moment, then did a beautiful intro to my song and the guests all stood and me and my dad started our walk.  I was smiling, and happy, and quite honestly don't remember looking at anyone as I walked down the aisle, other than Alan.  My dad and I made it down and I gave him a big hug before he shook Alan's hand and handed my hand over to him.  We then proceeded with the ceremony, and it was exactly as we wanted it.  Our bishop married us and I couldn't have been happier.  He started out with his comments about marriage and love and then Alan and I did our own vows. I cried, he cried, we both laughed, as well as those in attendance.  They were perfect.  We then exchanged our "I do's", followed by exchanging our rings and were finally pronounced husband and wife!  An absolutely perfect wedding ceremony :)  We then remained up front where our family and friends came to congratulate us before we started taking pictures.  And I think this is where I shall end this post for today.  I will follow up with another post on our reception as well as our honeymoon.  Here are some of the pics of our wedding ceremony to end with....
